Dr. Friedberg is our senior Cataract Specialist having served the Manatee Eye Clinic & Laser Center since 1991. He completed his undergraduate and medical degrees at Pennsylvania State University where he was a Phi Beta Kappa. After his internship at The Cleveland Clinic in Ohio, he did his ophthalmology residency at the Medical College of Virginia.

Dr. Friedberg received subspecialty training in advanced cataract and implant surgery, corneal transplants, external eye diseases, and laser vision correction as a Cornea Fellow at the renowned Jules Stein Eye Institute at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA).

Dr. Friedberg specializes in the following procedures:

Cataract surgery: No-stitch, no-shot, no-patch, no-hospital, micro-incision surgery. Dr. Friedberg utilizes the latest lens implants including the multi-focal and astigmatism implants to reduce or eliminate your need for glasses. Dr. Friedberg is Certified in Cataract Surgery by the American Board of Eye Surgeons.

LASIK: Custom LASIK laser vision correction using the VISX Star S4 laser system to correct near-sightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism.

Corneal Transplant: Donor tissue gives blind eyes a second chance at good vision.

Dr. Friedberg is a clinical assistant professor of ophthalmology at the University of South Florida College of Medicine. He holds membership in the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and the Manatee County Medical Society. He has published papers in journals and contributed chapters to medical books.
